Yasmin Mossavar-Rahmani, Ph.D., RD, CDN is professor in the Division of Health Behavior Research & Implementation Science in the Department of Epidemiology & Population Health at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. She trained in Anthropology (B.A.) at Harvard-Radcliffe College and Regional Studies: Middle East (M.A.) at Harvard University. She completed graduate degrees in Nutritional Sciences (M.S., Ph.D.) at the University of Connecticut. She is a nutrition scientist with a background in anthropology and has a strong interest in using objective measures to assess lifestyle components such as diet, sleep and physical activity in multicultural populations. Her goal is to understand the sources of measurement error and improve precision of assessment and relate these lifestyle measures to health outcomes. She serves as principal investigator for National Institutes of Health funded studies including randomized controlled trial: the “Multicultural Healthy Diet to Reduce Cognitive Decline & Alzheimer's Disease Risk” and most recently as multiple principal investigator for "Cardiometabolic Outcomes in Multi-ethnic Physical Activity & Sedentary behavior Study (COMPASS)." She has served as principal investigator for the Study of Latinos: Nutrition & Physical Activity Assessment Study (SOLNAS) and co-investigator for the New York City Clinical Center Women’s Health Initiative Dietary Modification Trial. She leads the first year nutrition elective for medical students at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
