Steven K. Clinton, MD, PhD

Dr. Steven K. Clinton is a physician scientist at The Ohio State University where he holds the The Schoenlaub Cancer Research Chaired Professorship. He serves The James Cancer Hospital as Service Line Director for the Prostate and Genitourinary Oncology Program involving over 30 faculty providing integrated mutidisciplinary care for cancer patients. For the last 25 years he has served as Program Leader for Molecular Carcinogenesis and Chemoprevention, one of five research programs of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Dr. Clinton’s training for his MD and PhD at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign was followed by an Internal Medicine internship and residency at the University of Chicago. He proceeded with Medical Oncology training at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School, where he remained on faculty for nearly a decade. Dr. Clinton joined The Ohio State University in 1998.

Dr. Clinton’s research activities focus on many aspects of diet, nutrition, and cancer. The research efforts include metabolic epidemiology and clinical intervention trials, as well as basic laboratory studies of cellular and molecular biology resulting in over 300 scientific publications, reviews, and book chapters.

Dr. Clinton provides service to many national and international organizations involved in the war on cancer, including serving on the Dietary Guidelines for America 2015-2020 Report as well as the Institute of Medicine/National Academy of Sciences Dietary Reference Intakes for Calcium and Vitamin D.
