Research Scientist & Director of Multisite Operations

Ana Poblacion is the Research Scientist and Director of Multisite Operations at Children’s HealthWatch. She is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. Her research is concentrated in the intersection between maternal and child nutrition and health, and social determinants of health with a particular focus on food insecurity in the U.S. and Brazil. Dr. Poblacion’s research is motivated by the goal of improving health in underprivileged populations by improving access to six central pillars supporting basic needs: food security, housing stability, energy security, education attainment, access to child care, and financial stability. Prior to joining the Children’s HealthWatch team, Dr. Poblacion was a Professor in Schools of Nutrition for several Brazilian Universities, teaching subjects and coordinating courses related to Public Health Nutrition. Dr. Poblacion graduated from the Pontiff Catholic University of Campinas (PUCCAMP/Brazil), and received her Masters of Science, PhD in Sciences, and Post-Doctorate in Sciences degrees from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP/Brazil).
