Amber Wilson is the Program Coordinator for National Health Start Assocation's Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health - Community Care Initiative (AIM CCI) and the Program Manager for the Food and Nutrition for Better Health Leadership Training Institute. She received her degree from Winthrop University and began her career in maternal and child health in the WIC program where she was a nutritionist, Certified Lactation Counselor and managed a team of nutritionists, peer counselors and Registered Dietitians. Her leadership and commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and nutrition education were evident in the positive impact she made on the community.
Following her tenure at WIC, she transitioned to a community/rural health environment continuing her work in supporting families and communities in various capacities. She provided essential lactation education and support, delivered programs focused on chronic disease prevention and management, and played a key role in implementing policies, systems, and environmental changes to address childhood obesity in schools. Additionally, she coordinated statewide COVID-19 clinics.
She is a Certified Community Health Worker and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, which reflects dedication to ongoing professional development and excellence in her field. Her passion for collaborating with families and communities to enhance their overall well-being throughout the lifespan is a driving force behind her work and brings a sense of fulfillment to her endeavors.
