Carla Tarazona-Meza, MPH, LDN is an affiliated researcher at the Global NCD Center for Research and Training at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and PRISMA NGO in Peru, as well as Lecturer in Cientifica del Sur University in Peru. Her research topics are focused on the role of nutrition and food security in non-communicable diseases in LMICs populations, including dietary intake, environment, lifestyle and obesity, with the objective of providing evidence-based recommendations to low-resource settings,
She has led the nutritional component of various epidemiological studies in Peru and contributed in global studies about the dietary patterns associated with NCDs. She has also served as a consultant to the UN World Food Programme during the COVID-19 emergency in Peru, on promoting healthier lifestyle habits with a multi-level intervention in partnership with the Pan American Health Organization. She wasawarded as one of the Latin American leaders in Nutrition scholars, selected by the Latin American Society of Nutrition Workshop committee in 2023.
