Professor of Nutrition at the Department of Nutrition and Chair of the Human Nutrition Research Center at the Indonesian Medical Education and Research Institute (HNRC-IMERI), Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia. Over the past 25 years, Prof Agustina has made significant scientific contributions, publishing groundbreaking research in clinical, community, and policy spheres. Her work, particularly in maternal, child, and adolescent nutrition in low—and middle-income countries, has been instrumental in understanding the dietary modulation of gut microbiota in intestinal infection and inflammation and its interplay with cognition. She has substantial skills and experience as a principal investigator for numerous innovative large clinical trials in hospital, institutional, and community-based settings. These include studies on probiotics, calcium, and acute diarrhea; maternal gut microbiota; fetal brain; and child cognition.

As a Lead author of The Lancet paper on Universal health coverage in Indonesia, Commissioner of EAT-Lancet, and co-author of the Lancet Global Health on multi-micronutrient supplementation in pregnant women, she has contributed to landmark work on healthy diets and sustainable food systems. Her strategic and technical advisory roles for the World Health Organization (WHO) on matters of maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health and nutrition, and her membership in the International Advisory Committees of the New York Academy of Sciences and Micronutrient Forum for Maternal Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation, and the Steering Committee for Standing Together for Nutrition, reflect her influence and expertise in the field.
Her previous roles included Head of the Doctorate Program and Research Coordinator, Deputy Director of Resource Management, and Senior Researcher at the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization – Regional Center for Food and Nutrition.
