Sean McNabney is a PhD student studying Health Behavior in the Department of Applied Health Science, School of Public Health, at Indiana University Bloomington. Sean's research explores the intersection of obesity, chronic metabolic diseases (particularly type 2 diabetes), and sexual functioning. Previously, he received an MS degree in Nutrition Science from Purdue University, examining the anti-diabetic properties of resistant starches in a mouse model of diet-induced obesity. Sean's ongoing dissertation work examines the effects of bariatric surgery on psychosocial well-being, somatic symptoms, and sexual functioning. With regard to education/outreach, Sean is also interested in strategies to promote healthful dietary behaviors and to help others cultivate self-efficacy to achieve their own nutrition goals.
