Post Doctoral Research Associate
University of Nebraska-Lincoln
I am a Post-Doctoral Research Associate, and my research focuses on the molecular biology of taste responses, with a particular focus on the sweet and bitter taste signalling and taste microbiome interactions. This research will pave the way for novel food and drug development strategies, especially for children and older adults. The molecular level changes in infectious disorders like COVID-19 and other microbial infections affecting taste and smell could also be investigated. My research background includes Biochemistry and Molecular biology. In my early career, I focused on the molecular mechanisms of metabolic disorders like diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disorders as well as the development of novel biochemical targets for early diagnosis and treatments. As a Young Scientist Fellow of the Department of Health Research in New Delhi, India, I discovered new molecular markers to diagnose diabetic cardiomyopathy, which may be a stepstone for forthcoming researchers. In addition, I collaborated with other researchers to successfully administrate projects and produce several peer-reviewed publications from this research. As a result of these previous experiences, I am aware of the importance of frequent communication among project members and of constructing a realistic research plan, timeline, and budget. My research is recognised with various publications in reputed journals and many awards.
