Kelly Kogan is a postdoctoral research fellow working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Surveys Research Group in Beltsville, Maryland in a position funded by the Institute for Advancing Health Through Agriculture, Texas A&M University System. Dr. Kogan's work involves identifying and evaluating nutrients and food components of significance to public health and agriculture policy and developing evidence-based criteria for the reporting of nutrients and food components in national dietary surveillance. She holds a PhD in Health Services Research with a focus on federal nutrition policy and a Master of Science in Nutrition and Food Studies, both from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
Dr. Kogan previously worked as a lawyer in Washington, D.C., having earned a J.D. from Columbia Law School in New York City and a B.A. in International Affairs from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. In 2014 she left the field of law to begin a new career in nutrition and public health.
