Undergraduate Student
University of South Carolina
I am a committed McNair Scholar at the University of South Carolina, currently in my senior year, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (BARSC) degree in Food Policy and Research through the South Carolina Honors College. My interdisciplinary degree, developed in collaboration with three distinguished University of South Carolina professors, encompasses a comprehensive curriculum integrating economics, research methodology, public health, nutrition, and policy studies.
My academic journey has been marked by rigorous coursework, including advanced honors and Doctoral-level classes, equipping me with the analytical skills and theoretical knowledge necessary to address complex nutrition, agriculture policy, and public health issues. I am passionate about alleviating child food insecurity, nutrition, program evaluation, and economic issues low-income populations face.
As the Lead Qualitative Analyst for a multi-city study funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, I help lead a team across the country, investigating the intersection of material need insecurities and their impact on health outcomes such as HIV and cardiovascular disease. This role has advanced my skills in qualitative research software, critical analysis, and logistics management for a multi-site longitudinal project, providing a robust foundation for tackling public health challenges.
I will graduate in the Spring 2025, and I am actively seeking opportunities to apply my knowledge and skills in a professional setting.
