Nate Willis is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he is studying the impact of parenteral nutrition on digestive health and circadian regulation. Nate received his PhD from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he studied under the tutelage of Dr. Naiman Khan in nutritional neuroscience and clinical interventions. During his PhD training, Nate won the Early Career Researcher Award from Danone Nutricia for his novel insights into relationships between hydration biomarkers and the gut-microbiota-brain axis, the David Baker Award from the Division of Nutritional Sciences at UIUC for research innovation, and completed the coursework and clinical internship to become a Registered Dietitian. Nate is pursuing a career that will provide for his continued exploration into the biochemistry of metabolism while implementing and improving food access and nutrition education programs across the lifespan.
