Dr. Alaofè received her BSc degree in Biomedical Analysis from the University of Abomey-Calavi in Benin and her Ph.D. and MSc degrees in International Nutrition from the University of Laval in Canada. Since May 2024, she has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Promotion Sciences at the University of Arizona in the US. Her research focuses on maternal, adolescent, and child nutrition, emphasizing dietary assessment and nutritional risk factors for malnutrition. Dr. Alaofè has published extensively on various topics, including the connection between diet and disease, ethnic disparities in health outcomes, and the design of nutritional and lifestyle intervention programs to promote health. She is well-versed in mixed methods research and its application to program development and evaluation. In addition, Dr. Alaofè has worked as a consultant, conducting dietary analysis for Zambia's national food consumption survey and providing valuable insights into the link between agriculture and nutrition in a report for Feed the Future. She has also served as a Nutrition Research Advisor for USAID leaders on the Health Care Improvement (HCI) Project in Mali and contributed to technical support from the ICF International team to the Mali implementing partner.
