Holder of a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, a Master's degree in Economics , and a Doctorate in Population Nutrition Sciences. Before joining academia, he gained extensive experience in various areas of economic and social development planning in public administration. Since 2014, he has been involved in numerous interdisciplinary projects for the design, monitoring, and evaluation of policies in food, health, and nutrition. In 2018, he was part of the coordinating team for the publication of the book “Obesity in Mexico: State of Public Policy and Recommendations for its Prevention and Control.” Currently, he is an academic at the Research Institute on Equitable Development (EQUIDE) at the Universidad Iberoamericana, and a member of the National System of Researchers, Level 1, for the period 2023-2027. He has contributed to fifteen published articles, four of them as the first author, which have been cited 470 times. His research interests focus on the structural factors related to obesity, sustainable diets, food environments and systems, food insecurity, the evaluation of food policies, and the prevention of chronic diet-related diseases
