Graduate Research Assistant
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
My name is Gabriela Vatavuk-Serrati and I’m a doctoral candidate in Nutrition at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, working with Dr. Lindsey Smith Taillie. I am originally from Brazil and I have a background in Nutrition and Epidemiology. My main research interests revolve around packaged and UPF purchases and intake, food policy, diet quality, social determinants of health, and chronic disease prevention. In particular, my dissertation work focuses on ultra-processed food intake in a large cohort of Hispanics/Latinos living in the U.S., and its relationship with acculturation and obesity. Upon completing my degree, I would love to pursue a postdoc in nutrition epidemiology, focusing on reducing diet-related health inequalities among underserved populations.
