PhD Candidate/Teacher's Assistant
American University
I am a PhD candidate in the Nutritional Neuroscience Lab at American University in Washington, D.C. I research the effects of eliminating dietary excitotoxins, such as free glutamate and aspartate, on PTSD symptoms and related biomarkers. I am passionate about the food is medicine approach to treating mental illness, as nutritional interventions can treat both the underlying physiological drivers and the symptoms of disease. Dietary interventions to improve mental health give power back to the patient.
