Received a Ph.D. in Nutrition Sicences at Florida International University (FIU). Doctoral training was focused on exploring the association between hydration, body fat percentage, lean mass, and bone mass in children and adolescents (10-20 years). Dr. Clayton explored wanted to evaluate if proper hydration would positively impact bone mass acquisition and lipolysis, which may reduce the risk of osteoporotic fractures and cardiometabolic diseases. Additional experience in study implementation, systematic reviews, performing laboratory protocols, specimen collection and analysis, working with infectious diseases, and data extraction. Dr. Clayton is currently a second-year Postdoctoral Fellow in the Epidemiology Branch at NICHD developing new skills and learning advanced methods in nutrition epidemiology using data from established cohorts:
-Investigating early infant feeding practices and its association with growth and obesity risk in early and middle childhood.
-Exploring later dietary patterns using data from existing cohorts and studying their impact on the development of comorbidities.
