Dr. Kelly C. Cara earned a Ph.D. in Nutrition Epidemiology and Data Science in May 2024 from the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. She now holds the position of Post-Doctoral Fellow, Population Science, at the American Cancer Society and Emory University’s Winship Cancer Institute in Atlanta, GA. Her primary research interests focus on the role of healthy and plant-based dietary patterns in supporting lifelong health and aging and reducing risk for a variety of chronic diseases and related health outcomes. Cara’s research also involves supporting health policy through evidence synthesis. Since 2019, her work has resulted in 19 peer-reviewed publications, 9 conference presentations, and reports that have helped inform U.S. health policy and World Health Organization (WHO) nutrition guidelines. Cara has served as a facilitator for Cochrane Systematic Review Standard Author Training webinars through the Cochrane US Affiliate Center at Tufts University School of Medicine and has also given guest lectures at Rutgers University on the challenges and special considerations for conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses on nutrition-related studies. She is a member of the American Society for Nutrition and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
