Dr. Stephanie L. Fitzpatrick is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine within the Zucker School of Medicine and in the Institute of Health System Science within the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research at Northwell Health. She is a clinical health psychologist, behavioral medicine researcher and implementation scientist with more than a decade of experience developing, implementing and evaluating behavioral interventions for chronic disease prevention and management in clinical and community-based settings. She has been principal or co-investigator on 13 federally and foundation funded grants and has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Fitzpatrick is the Interim Director and Director of Research, Evaluation and Strategic Implementation for the American Diabetes Association-recognized DECIDE Self-management Program. She has conducted studies, including randomized clinical trials and natural experiments, to determine the effectiveness of behavioral interventions on weight management, blood pressure and diabetes-related outcomes among racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse adult patient populations. In addition, she has conducted studies and program evaluations examining the integration of social care in healthcare settings, as well as the impact of health care and community-based organization partnerships on patient- and community-level outcomes. Dr. Fitzpatrick’s current research is focused on implementing combined behavioral and social health interventions in clinical and community-based settings. She is Associate Editor for Diabetes Care, President-Elect of the Society for Health Psychology (APA Division 38), Society of Behavioral Medicine Fellow, and serves as a member of the Oregon Health Authority's Metrics and Scoring Committee.
