Associate Professor
University of Massachusetts
Kelsey M. Mangano, Ph.D., R.D., is Associate Professor and Director of Nutritional Science in the Department of Biomedical and Nutritional Sciences at UMass Lowell. She is a member of the Center for Population Health at UMass Lowell and of the Center for Microbiome Research at UMass Medical School. Professor Mangano’s research interests include examining the complex interactions between diet, gastrointestinal homeostasis and health. Current projects aim to: 1) improve dietary quality, and health by nutrition intervention in persons with low food security; 2) examine the impact of food additives on gut homeostasis; and 3) explore links between dairy biomarkers, the gut microbiome and cardiometabolic outcomes. Future research will develop dietary interventions to promote gut and overall health.
