Full Professor
University of Valencia, Spain
Full Professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the School of Medicine at the University of Valencia, Valencia, Spain. She is also principal investigator of the CIBER Physiopathology of Obesity and Nutrition since 2006 (Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Madrid). Additionally, she has been Director of the Genetic and Molecular Research Unit since 1998. She created in 1998 the Genetic and Molecular Epidemiology Research Unit, focused on the study of the so-called gene-environment interactions in determining cardiovascular risk factors, obesity and other cardiometabolic phenotypes. Among the different environmental factors, she focused her research on the study of gene-diet interactions, contributing to the development of nutritional genomics. She is currently focusing her research on the integration of different omics in the investigation of gene-environment interactions, in general, and in nutrigenomics in particular. She is a member of the Association of Women Researchers and Technologists and is incorporating the gender perspective into her research projects, specifically through a Prometeo project of excellence for the integration of omics with a gender perspective and other international projects. Her current interest focuses on the integration of the exposome, phenomics, genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics and other omics, both in the research of cardiometabolic diseases and in healthy aging, for a more holistic view of health.
