Dr. Joanne Slavin is a Professor in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, Department of Food Science and Nutrition, University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. She is also the Managing Partner of the Slavin Sisters Farm LLC in Walworth, WI. She has spent her 40 year career studying and promoting staple carbohydrates as a sustainable source of nutrients including dietary fiber, plant protein, vitamins, and minerals. She teaches Advanced Human Nutrition and has completed more than 85 graduate students in Food Science and Nutrition. She is a farmer member of 2022 Midwest GRIT, a cohort formed to support the future of food grade grain farmers and develop a resislient grainshed in the Upper ;Midwest. She continues to support local, sustainable, economic, and healthy carbohydrate stapes to help feed the world.
