Professor Ngozi Nnam is a Professor of Community, Public Health and Paediatric Nutrition affiliated to the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. She holds a Ph. D in Human Nutrition from University of Nigeria Nsukka. She was the winner of 1994 Vice-Chancellor’s Faculty Postgraduate Prize for the best graduating student in the Faculty of Agriculture. She has a Diploma in Management of Higher Education Institutes from Galilee International Management Institute Israel. Professor Nnam was the first female Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She served as the Head, Department of Home Science, Nutrition and Dietetics for many years. She also served as a Development Officer in the Vice Chancellor’s Office, University of Nigeria Nsukka.
Professor Nnam is the Immediate Past President, Federation of African Nutrition Societies (FANUS). She is a Fellow International Union of Nutritional Sciences (FIUNS), Fellow American Society for Nutrition (FASN), Fellow Nutrition Society of Nigeria (FNSN), Fellow African Academic Network (FAAN), Fellow National Institute of Corporate Administration (FCAI), and Fellow Institute of Policy Management Development (FIPMD). Professor Nnam is a member of Standing Together for Nutrition Coregroup, a global nutrition Consortium, that has joined forces to estimate the impact of COVID-19 on Nutrition and best evidence-based advice on how to address the impacts. She sits on the Steering Committee of the Nutrition Consortium. Professor Nnam is a member of the Scientific Committee of Choices International Foundation, The Netherlands. She also belongs to the Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies (HMHB) Consortium. She has a lot of Professional experiences and has worked with many organizations to improve nutrition.
Professor Nnam is the Chairman of the National Nutrition Technical Working Group (NNTWG) for the Nutrition Department, Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja Nigeria. She is a member of the National Council on Nutrition (NCN), which is the highest policy making body in Nigeria. Professor Nnam has served as President of Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN) and on Council of the Society for more than 20 years. She belongs to so many other professional organizations like Nutrition Society UK, American Society for Nutrition (ASN) and African Nutrition Society (ANS). Professor Nnam was a former Chairman of Civil Society-Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN). She serves as Trustee for African Nutrition Society, E – Nutrition Academy, Nutrition Society of Nigeria and CS-SUNN.
Professor Nnam’s research interest is on Nutrition of women, children and adolescents, addressing malnutrition through the use of locally available food crops, food product development especially infant complementary foods. She has worked extensively on improving infant, young child and maternal nutrition particularly nutrition in the first 1000 days. Professor Nnam has over 200 publications to her credit in reputable peer reviewed national and international journals. Professor Nnam has travelled across continents to present more than 300 papers in many International Science Conferences and Workshops.
Professor Nnam is happily married and blessed with children and grandchildren.
