She completed her undergraduate degree in veterinary medicine and animal science at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. She joined the Mayengbam lab at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2022 to pursue her research career due to her keen interest in gut microbiome. Her research focuses on unraveling the role of vitamin B6 in modulating gut microbiome and thereby investigating how it can impact gut-brain communication in the host using a rodent model. As a veterinarian interested in health and disease, her curiosity towards research has driven her to explore the interplay between dietary nutrients and the gut microbiome.
