Lecturer, Nutrition & Dietetics
Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, Nigeria
Dr. Omobolaji O. Adewuyi recently defended his Ph.D. thesis, which evaluated the impact of Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation (MMS) on mineral levels in human milk and serum, exploring its association with infants' nutritional status. Through a Trainee Travel Fund from the International Society for Researchers in Human Milk and Lactation (ISRHML), he conducted research at the Geddes-Hartman laboratory at the University of Western Australia, developing the capacity to analyze trace elements in human milk, including selenium, zinc, iron, and iodine, using ICP-OES, and conducting comprehensive fat and protein analyses.
His research has led to several manuscripts in progress, focusing on the impact of MMS on selenium levels and the levels of copper, iron, and zinc in human milk and serum. Dr. Adewuyi also secured a travel grant for a 2-week exchange program at the University of Bergen, Norway, and a conference travel grant for presenting at the 6th Micronutrient Forum in The Hague, Netherlands.
Currently, Dr. Adewuyi lectures in the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho. He has also worked as a local consultant for UNICEF, gaining experience in project monitoring, evaluation, and nutrition initiatives. He aspires to pursue postdoctoral research focusing on larger multicentre Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs), exploring the link between micronutrients in human milk and infant development, and comparing MMS with Iron-Folic Acid supplementation during the first 1000 days of life. Dr. Adewuyi is seeking postdoctoral fellowship opportunities to further sharpen his research skills and develop stronger collaborations.
