Nicole Cunningham is a PhD student in Human Nutrition within the Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her research interests center on understanding the relationships between nutrition and health to improve outcomes for maternal and child populations around the world. She has worked on a range of projects relating to interventions to improve micronutrient status, breastfeeding promotion, and understanding interactions between infection, inflammation, and nutrition. She is passionate about using implementation science to understand how to carry out programs more effectively and more equitably. Her dissertation research is focused on methods of assessing vitamin A status among children in the Philippines. Nicole has an MSc in Nutrition for Global Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a BS in Global and Public Health Sciences from Cornell University. Before starting her PhD, she previously worked as a Research Assistant at the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. She is currently a student representative on ASN’s Global Nutrition Council.
