ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST
Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
Baltimore, Maryland, United States
I have a background in public health nutrition, nutrition epidemiology, biostatistics, behavior change, and program evaluation. I have led or have been actively involved in various large-scale nutrition program evaluation studies in low and middle-income countries with 15 years of experience in field operation research and survey research, and data analysis. Also, I served as a nutrition and evaluation consultant to provide technical support to UN organizations, international NGOs, and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) since 2014. I led a cluster-randomized trial to evaluate the effectiveness of a World Vision led-community-based nutrition program to improve child undernutrition in Ethiopia (2012-2014). I have served as a project scientist for the Enhancing nutrition and infection treatment during pregnancy for maternal and child health in Ethiopia (ENAT) study, a parental research project of the proposed study. I have provided technical expertise in data management and designing and evaluating nutrition components involving iodized salt supplementation as a project scientist since April 2020. I have served as co-investigator in an impact evaluation of a WFP Malawi stunting prevention program (2015-2018) and led as a PI an impact evaluation project of a World Vision-led nutrition-sensitive program in Bangladesh since 2018. My similar experiences also ensure that I have enough knowledge and skills in the proposed nutrition research operation and data management. I have advanced epidemiology and biostatistics skills and conducted many epidemiological studies on maternal and child nutrition, dietary quality, and food security using population-representative data in East and Southern Africa.
