Kaixiong received his Bachelor's degree in Biology from Wuhan University. He worked briefly at the Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI) as a bioinformatician before he joined the graduate school at Cornell University, where he earned his Ph.D. degree in Nutritional Genomics. He received his postdoctoral training in Computational Biology at Cornell. Kaixiong started his own research group at UGA in 2018. His research focuses on Nutritional Genetics and Genomics, Gene-Diet Interactions, and polyunsaturated fatty acids.
