Post Doctoral Fellow
McMaster University
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
Dr Everson A Nunes has a BSc in Biological Sciences (Major in Human Physiology)(2003) and a BSc in Human Nutrition (2007) from Universidade Federal do Paraná (Curitiba-PR, Brazil). He also has a Master of Science (2005) and a Ph.D. (2009) in Cellular and Molecular Biology (Concentration area: Human Physiology) from the same university. From 2010 until 2019, Dr. Nunes held a faculty position first as an Assistant and later as an Associate Professor at the Department of Physiological Sciences at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Florianópolis-SC, Brazil), coordinating the Laboratory of Investigation of Chronic Diseases. In 2019, Dr Nunes joined the Protein Metabolism Research lab in the Department of Kinesiology at McMaster University (Hamilton-ON, Canada) as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow under the supervision of Dr. Stuart Phiilips. Dr. Nunes's research uses pre-clinical and human clinical trials to investigate the potential effects of nutritional or physical activity interventions based on dietary supplements and diets on health-related outcomes. Most outcomes of interest focused on regulating nutrient metabolism in different metabolic states such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and aging. He is also interested in the physiology of different organs and tissues like the liver, the adipose tissue, and skeletal muscle.
