Dennis Cladis, PhD, is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Phytochemistry in the Department of Food Science and Technology at Virginia Tech and is also an Affiliate Faculty Member of the Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise. Dr. Cladis' research spans the farm to table to health spectrum, with a particular focus on the bioavailability of polyphenols and minerals. Through his cross-disciplinary training in Nutrition (postdoc at University of Minnesota, 2020-2023), Food Science (MS 2014, PhD 2019 at Purdue University), Toxicology (grad school minor, 2019), and Chemistry (BA 2009, MS 2012), his research program utilizes LC-MS/MS, rat models, and traditional chemistry techniques to investigate questions related to the nutrient content, bioaccessibility, and bioavailability in a variety of foods and dietary supplements. He has published 22 peer-reviewed publications, 3 book chapters, and >75 papers and abstracts at scientific conferences.
