Associate Professor
University of Alaska Anchorage
I am an Associate Professor in the Dietetics & Nutrition program with a research focus on food security, diet quality, and health promotion. My background includes diverse experiences within both the fields of dietetics and public health, with expertise in participatory research with marginalized populations. Specifically, I have focused my research with Alaska Native peoples, low income individuals and families, food pantry clientele, and college students facing food and/or house insecurity. I have served as a Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on 20 research projects in my academic history, six of which I was the PI and half of which I completed with my graduate students. All of the projects worked with community members and utilized participatory research. Funding for the projects came through the University of Alaska, the USDA, NIH, the State of Alaska, McCormick Science Institute, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, totaling nearly $2 million.
