I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program in Nutrition at The Ohio State University. I hold a BS in Human Nutrition from OSU and an MPH in Prevention Science from Emory University. My research investigates the intersection of food security, diet, and mental health among East and West African immigrants in Ohio. My research interests are informed by over 15 years of public health program management and more than 20 years of community engagement and advocacy with African immigrant communities. I am the co-founder, board member, and public health advisor of Global Health Education Development (GHEAD), which implements state-supported health and education initiatives, including mental health, substance misuse, and addiction awareness programs. I also serve in multiple advising committees that support the health and nutrition well-being of vulnerable populations worldwide, including the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Disparities and Cultural Competency Advisory Committee (DACC) and Somali's Scaling Up Nutrition Advisory Committee.
