Dr. Alisha Redelfs is an Assistant Professor of Public Health in the College of Life Sciences at Brigham Young University. She is an implementation scientist dedicated to making best practices in health accessible and available to all communities. Dr. Redelfs’ research centers on healthy eating and active living, mentorship, utilization-focused evaluation, and communicating complexity within a community context. She currently teaches courses in health communication, advocacy, and evaluation methods.
Dr. Redelfs' goal is for her research to have a real impact in the communities she partners with and not just in academic circles. Dr. Redelfs is currently applying objective measures of fruit & vegetable intake to a project on refugee & immigrant community health as well as leading a campus-wide initiative related to inclusive mentorship at her university. She is also a member of the communication committee of The Obesity Society, the leading professional society dedicated to better understanding, preventing, and treating obesity. Dr. Redelfs serves on the editorial board of the journal Nutrition and Diabetes (2020 IF 5.097).
Before coming to BYU, Dr. Redelfs was the Deputy Director for Research and Evaluation at the Paso del Norte Institute for Healthy Living at the University of Texas at El Paso. Over 5 years, she oversaw 45+ evaluations on both sides of the US/Mexico border.
