Full Professor of Human Nutrition, at the Department of Food, Environmental and Nutritional Sciences of the University of Milan. Director of the master degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition and member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Society of Human Nutrition (SINU). Member of the group of revision of LARN (Dietary Reference Levels for Energy and Nutrients for the Italian population). Coordinator of different projects with national and international relevance. Research activities include the following topics: 1) effect of dietary patterns, foods and/or dietary components (e.g. bioactive compounds) with nutritional interest in the modulation of markers related to nutritional and health status (including nutrient and non-nutrient bioavailability assessment) in target groups of population through the exploitation of human intervention studies and other experimental models; 2) evaluation of food characteristics and pattern of consumption affecting eating behaviour and satiety in specific target groups (including community settings studies) and assessment of nutritional quality of food and/or diet for the development of targeted food products for specific needs; 3) development of strategies for the optimization of healthy and sustainable dietary patterns adapted to different contexts and target groups.
