Dr. Mavra Ahmed is a Research Fellow in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto and at the Joannah and Brian Lawson Centre for Child Nutrition. Mavra has experience in nutrition and food policy and clinical nutrition with strong expertise in nutrition research methods. She has collaborated on interdisciplinary research with both private and public partners. Mavra obtained her PhD from the University of Toronto, specializing in characterization of dietary intakes of Canadian Armed Forces and evaluation of novel technologies for dietary assessments. Mavra holds a CIHR Fellowship in the Strategic Training Program in Public Health Policy and a CIHR Fellowship in Application of Artificial Intelligence for Public Health from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. Her research on the food and nutrition policy initiatives at the population level has contributed to improvements in the Canadian food environment. She is also passionate about developing equitable population level interventions to enable healthier dietary decision-making.
