Objectives: Obesity and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NFALD) are increasing exponentially in the world and the situation is also problematic in Morocco. The objective: to evaluate the effect of nutritional education on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in patients with obesity.
Methods: 210 participants followed an Education programmes of 6month including, adoption of Mediterranean diet containing 0.8 / kg of body weight / day of proteins, 50% carbohydrates, 30% lipids and regular physical activity. Clinical and metabolic parameters were assessed at baseline and at the end of education program.
Results: Among the participants diagnosed with obesity 131 were with and 79 without non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. After six months education program, the anthropometric and metabolic (ALAT, ASAT, GGT, TG, HDL, Total CHOL) parameters are improved significantly in the participants.
Conclusions: Nutritional education as an exclusive treatment is effective in the treatment of NAFLD linked obesity.
